The Charlotte Children’s choir provides an accessible, comprehensive music education and performance program that serves children in the greater Charlotte community from diverse cultures and economic backgrounds. Our program is founded on the highest standards of artistic excellence. The Chorus sets challenging goals and teaches the skills necessary to reach those goals. - Serves 250 singers from over 100 public /private schools representing two states and nine counties.
- Six ensembles receive over 100 hours of high caliber musical instruction and vocal training per season.
- Repertoire spans centuries consisting of music ranging from Renaissance motets to contemporary compositions, from Baroque music to folk melodies from around the world in various languages.
- 300 activities annually reach 30,000-50,000 people locally and internationally.
- The Choir has 29% minority representation, including African-American, Hispanic, Asian-American and other minorities, and covers a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds.
- About 15 % receive need-based scholarships.
