The Charlotte Children's Choir, founded in 1986, is a broad-based community organization dedicated to providing a unique educational and performance opportunity to boys and girls of all backgrounds with the goal of attaining the highest level of artistic excellence in choral music performance.

The Choir's membership consists of 230 children representing 8 counties, 2 states and more than 100 public and private schools. The program consists of 6 main choirs beginning with a preparatory choir and progressing to the senior choirs. Advancement is based on musicianship and vocal development.

Who can join?
Children between the ages of 8 and 18 with a desire to sing may audition. No prior musical training is required.

What are the audition requirements?
Auditions are simple and serve as a placement evaluation so that students are assigned to the appropriate choir based on their skill level, experience and age. Care is taken so that the audition process is a friendly and positive experience.

No special preparation or prepared piece is required.
The audition will last approximately 10 minutes.

When and where are auditions?
Auditions are held in late spring and summer of every year. Depending upon openings in the choir program, auditions may also be held in December for the second half of the choir season. Auditions take place in the Children's Choir offices or local churches.
